Endowment Board
They are to do good, to be rich in good deeds, liberal and generous, thus laying up for themselves a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of the life which is life indeed. 1 Timothy 6: 18-19
Members of Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church have and will continue to give to the work of the church through bequests in wills, charitable remainder and other trusts, charitable gift annuities, and assignment of property (cash, stocks, bonds, insurance proceeds, real estate).
To manage such gifts, Resurrection established a fund separate from the other assets belonging to the Church. This fund is known as the Endowment Fund. The purpose of the Fund is to enhance the mission of Resurrection apart from the general operations of the congregation. No portion of the income or principal of the Fund can be used for the annual operation budget of Resurrection, unless otherwise authorized by the terms of the specific gift given, such as under the financial circumstances so unusual and of such as emergency nature that the only recourse is to use the Endowment Fund principal. An Endowment Fund Board of Directors (the Board) is the custodian of the Fund. The Board consists of five directors, all of whom must be voting members of Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church. The term of each board member is five years. The Sr. Pastor and the President of the Church Council are the advisory nonvoting members of the Board. Each year at the annual meeting of the church, one new Director is elected to replace the departing Director. The Board meets quarterly, or more frequently if necessary. The Board is directly responsible to and reports to the congregation of Resurrection. The Board is not a separate team, nor subordinate to, the Church Council. All assets are held in the name of Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church Endowment Fund. The Fund currently has a balance in excess of $200,000. When a gift is received, no more than ten percent of the principal amount can initially be allocated to benevolent causes. The remaining ninety percent of the principal amount shall be retained, and only the income generated from the investment of the principal shall be expended. Income from the Fund shall be distributed as deemed necessary or proper for the following purposes:
