Social Ministry Team
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. - Matthew 25:35-36 (NIV)
The purpose of this team shall be to extend Christian compassion and helpfulness to the ill, the aged, the homeless, the underprivileged, and the imprisoned and in general, to persons of all ages in need of aid in body or soul.Our Vision Statement: Extends Christian compassion and helpfulness to the ill, aged, homeless, underprivileged, imprisoned and to all persons in need of aid in body or soul. Strives to enlist in those efforts as many as possible of the individual members and organizations of the congregation. Studies social conditions in the local, national and world communities in order to provide for discussion and action appropriate to our Christian calling. The Social Ministry’s Team’s activities include: • Souper Bowl Sunday for ELCA World Hunger • Memorial Day Rememberance • Resurrection Café at Church • Meals to new mothers • Alternative Giving at Christmas • Prison Ministries • Food Pantries • Sister Congregation in Tanzania • Golden Age Ministry Team - serves communion to shut-ins and those in assisted living facilities.
