Prayers
Pray without ceasing. - 1 Thessalonians 5:17
PRAYERS OF OUR CONGREGATION AND
PRAYERS OF OUR COMMUNITY Dear Shiri and Resurrection Lutheran Churches: In May 2010 Resurrection Church held a day of prayer and contemplation. During this time members of our church came together and lifted up their prayers. Together we prayed for our members, our loved ones, members of Shiri Parish, and the Prison Ministry we support. We have collected these prayers and put them together so that together we can continue to lift up the prayers of our community. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines. 1 Corinthians 12: 7 – 11 While we may be separated by gifts, by interests, by culture, and distance we are all united through one Spirit in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We need to pay well our pastors, evangelists, kindergarten teachers and other workers of the parish. Partnership Committee Pray that God gives us good and committed members who are ready to sacrifice their time and talents to work for others. We also need people of vision. Partnership with Resurrection Pray that it grows and bears lasting fruit. Use this as a God given opportunity to serve or minister to others. Membership Growth Pray that more members join our church and that we don’t only grow in number. We need to become active and of service to one another. Montessori Kindergarten Schools The parish runs four kindergartens with five Montessori teachers. Children are the life of our church today and tomorrow. We need to give them a good foundation physically and spiritually. We need to be the voice of the voiceless. Church Buildings Since we have the church buildings to finish and a high school to start we ask for your prayers that we may accomplish this work we have started. TEACH US TO PRAY Luke 11:1-13 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples." He said to them, "When you pray, say: "'Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.'" Then he said to them, "Suppose one of you has a friend, and he goes to him at midnight and says, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, because a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him.' "Then the one inside answers, 'Don't bother me. The door is already locked, and my children are with me in bed. I can't get up and give you anything.' I tell you, though he will not get up and give him the bread because he is his friend, yet because of the man's boldness he will get up and give him as much as he needs. "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you . For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" HAVE FAITH IN THE LORD Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Mark 11:22-25 "'Have faith in God,' Jesus answered. 'I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, "Go, throw yourself into the sea," and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.'" REJOICE IN PRAYER Psalm 5:3 My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning I will direct my prayer to You, and I will look up. |
